The Iran Deal is At Risk - Tell Congress to Defend It

Call Senators Wyden and Merkley today to support protecting the Iran Nuclear Deal from Trump's reckless plans.

The Iran Deal is living proof: diplomacy works, and is a peaceful path towards a world free of the threat of nuclear war. Iran is complying with the 2015 multinational agreement to denuclearize and The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has certified Iran to be in compliance eight times in a row. Iran has removed over two-thirds of its centrifuges, shipped out 98% of its uranium stockpile, and pulled the core from its plutonium reactor.

On October 13th, President Trump announced plans to decertify the Iran agreement. This gives Congress the option to kill the deal between now and December 12th. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) is preparing to introduce new sanctions legislation that would undermine the agreement and alienate U.S. allies that brokered the deal. If the U.S. breaks our end of the bargain, this keystone agreement could collapse, fueling international conflict.

We can stop Trump and protect this peaceful diplomacy success story.

Call today to ensure that Oregon's Senators are on the right side of history. If you prefer to leave a message, call after 2pm/5pm Eastern Time.

WYDEN CALL SCRIPT:

(202) 224-5244

Hi, my name is ____ and I'm a constituent calling from [town/city], Oregon.

I'm calling to urge Senator Wyden to renew his support for the Iran Nuclear Deal. I thank Senator Wyden for supporting the deal in 2015, and I am now deeply concerned that Trump has decided to decertify it. Trump's decision makes it more likely that Iran will develop a nuclear weapon, and it increases the risk of war with Iran. Senator Wyden must do everything in his power to save the Iran deal by rejecting sanctions and standing up for diplomacy. As the U.S. intelligence community and eight consecutive reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency have verified, Tehran has fully complied with the nuclear accord. It's up to Congress to determine the deal’s future. Within the next two months, Congress will vote on whether to reinstate sanctions on Iran that were lifted by the deal. Senator Wyden must vote against sanctions to save the Iran deal and prevent war. Please join Senator Merkley in speaking out against the Iran Deal and vote against sanctions on Iran. Thank you very much.

MERKLEY CALL SCRIPT:

(202) 224-3753

Hi, my name is ____ and I'm a constituent calling from [town/city], Oregon.

I'm calling to thank Senator Merkley for his recent declarations of support for the Iran Nuclear Deal. I am also grateful to Senator Merkley for supporting the deal in 2015, and I am now deeply concerned that Trump has decided to decertify it. Trump's decision makes it more likely that Iran will develop a nuclear weapon, and it increases the risk of war with Iran. As the U.S. intelligence community and eight consecutive reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency have verified, Tehran has fully complied with the nuclear accord. It's up to Congress to determine the deal’s future. Within the next two months, Congress will vote on whether to reinstate sanctions on Iran that were lifted by the deal. I am counting on Senator Merkley to follow through on his declarations of support for peaceful diplomacy by voting against sanctions on Iran. Again, thank you very much.
