We hope that you were able to join us on April 28th for an evening of celebration of the high school student winners of our 2022 Greenfield Peace Scholarship. The Greenfield Peace Scholarship is an opportunity to hear from young Oregonians on some of the most pressing issues of our time. We sponsor this annual scholarship to encourage Oregon’s youth to consider their leadership role in promoting a more healthy, just, and peaceful world. Named in honor of Del Greenfield, our longtime Executive Director, the scholarship is in its 14th consecutive year in 2022.

In past years, we have asked students to submit written and visual art, but for our 2022 Greenfield Peace Scholarship, we are seeking to see and hear the voices of change. With that in mind, we asked Oregon high school juniors and seniors to submit a video performance of their own original poem, song, or rap in response to the following prompt: “Half of the US discretionary budget goes to the military every year. How would you spend it instead?”

Congratulations to the amazing high school student winners of this year's Greenfield Peace Scholarship, and a special thanks to all of the students who shared their thoughts with us through this year's scholarship.
