In spite of Trump and Scott Pruitt's rollbacks of critical environmental protections, we the people still have the power to take action and protect the health of our climate. Oregon PSR is hard at work on the Steering Committee of the Portland Clean Energy Fund campaign, alongside the NAACP Portland Branch, 350PDX, the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO), the Native American Youth and Family Center, the Coalition of Communities of Color, Verde, OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, the Oregon Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society of Portland, and Columbia Riverkeeper. Over 175 other community organizations, businesses, labor groups, and city leaders are behind us. Join us in this important work today.
The Portland Clean Energy Fund is a historic city ballot measure slated for November 2018. It will ensure that billion-dollar corporations pay just 1% of their Portland revenue to account for their polluting supply chains and support a resource fund that shores up climate resilience for all Portlanders. Low-income residents and people of color, who are impacted first and worst by climate change, will be prioritized in receiving rooftop solar, housing weatherization, living-wage jobs, and more.
There are 3 major ways you can support this exciting campaign:
- Attend the "Re-Energize Happy Hour" this Friday, June 15th at 5:00 PM at the campaign office (at the Sierra Club Oregon Chapter’s office at 1821 SE Ankeny Street in Portland), where you can sign the initiative and build community with the diverse coalition of the campaign’s supporters
- Sign up to join Oregon PSR in gathering signatures at Sunday Parkways or at a different signature gathering event
- Donate to support the passage of this historic measure in November 2018, which is poised to be a model for climate policy nationwide (anyone can do this--including folks who don't live in Portland!)
