Election Night Victory! Portland Clean Energy Initiative Passes, Oregonians Reject Measure 105

Last night's election was a huge victory for our community and for a more healthy and just Oregon. The two ballot measures that Oregon PSR has been working on tirelessly for months went our way, with the Portland Clean Energy Initiative passing and the anti-immigrant Measure 105 being resoundingly defeated. With your help, we brought the voice of public health to the hard-working, diverse coalitions working on both of these ballot measures. Thanks so much to all of you who have donated your time and money, knocked on doors, made phone calls, written letters, and otherwise been involved in these efforts!

Measure 26-201, the Portland Clean Energy Initiative, Passes

Thanks to hundreds of volunteers and community partners and tens of thousands of Portland voters coming together for green jobs and healthy homes, we have passed the first-ever clean energy fund for climate justice in the nation. Measure 26-201, the Portland Clean Energy Initiative, has passed, and it marks the first environmental initiative created and led by communities of color in Oregon history. Our deepest thanks to all of our coalition partners, including Verde, Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, Coalition of Communities of Color, OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, NAACP Portland Branch 1120, Native American Youth and Family Center, Sierra Club Oregon Chapter, 350 PDX, Audubon Society of Portland, and Columbia Riverkeeper, who made this initiative happen. We celebrate today, but tomorrow, the work continues. Our communities will not rest until everyone lives in a healthy, sustainable neighborhood and has access to living wage jobs. Together, we will carry this victory forward and mobilize for climate justice for all.

Anti-Immigrant Measure 105 Defeated

Measure 105 has been rejected by Oregon voters. Thank you for voting, volunteering, and supporting the campaign. Together, we have defended Oregon’s values and said no to those who want to divide immigrant and non-immigrant Oregonians. We are going to keep fighting for our rights and we need you to be a part of it. Please commit to continuing to protect immigrants in Oregon by joining us in this work.

All of Oregon PSR's ballot measure endorsements went the direction we wanted last night, and we couldn't have done it without the support and engagement of members like you. Learn more about the election results, and know that, with your support, we will continue to work to protect the health and safety of all Oregonians.
