Rally for Medicare for All

This is an important political moment. Reproductive rights and gender-affirming care are under attack, and the COVID-19 crisis has further exposed the broken state of healthcare in our country. Medicare for All is the first and necessary step toward solidifying care for all of those currently lacking access. People all over the country experience health inequities on the basis of race, language, income, immigration status, disability, and gender identity. The time has come for universal, comprehensive, publicly-funded healthcare that is free at the point of service. No premiums, no co-pays, no deductibles. Everybody in, nobody out.

Our community partners at Medicare for All PDX invite you to join in honoring Medicare’s birthday by coming together in celebration and upholding the cause for Medicare for All. The Rally for Medicare for All, scheduled for Saturday, July 30th beginning at noon at Shemanski Park in Portland, will feature speakers, music, performances, and tabling. Masks recommended. Note that the march associated with this event has been cancelled, but the rally is still on!

Look for the Oregon PSR table at the rally and stop by to learn more about our work and how you can get involved!

People currently involved with the event organizing are associated with Portland Democratic Socialists of America, Portland Jobs with Justice, Health Care for All Oregon-Action,  Democratic Party of Oregon Health Care Caucus, Alliance for Democracy, Oregon Physicians for a National Health Program, People’s Party of Oregon, Rhythm Nation, and others.

We hope that you will join the rally on July 30th as Portland celebrates Medicare’s birthday and takes a powerful and joyful stand for Medicare for All.
