Tell us about your new position at Oregon PSR?

In my new role as the Peace and Justice Program Manager, I'm focused on revitalizing what was formerly known as our Peace Work Group, now called the Peace and Justice Action Team (PJAT), and re-engaging with our active members and volunteers. Together, we're identifying areas of focus, such as nuclear disarmament, racial justice, and more. There’s so much important work to do, and I hope we can help make positive and meaningful changes in policies, people’s awareness, and state of inequity. Additionally, I'm working to help OPSR rejoin important coalition spaces, fundraise, and develop educational resources to raise awareness among the public about health impacts of our program areas. It's an exciting and challenging time as we push for lasting change.

Why are you excited to be the Peace & Justice Program Manager?

I'm excited to be the Peace & Justice Program Manager because this role allows me to engage in work that deeply aligns with my values. Collaborating with intelligent physicians and passionate activists who are dedicated to bringing about social change is both inspiring and energizing. Together, we have the opportunity to work toward building a liberated future—one where justice, peace, and equity are at the forefront of our society. It’s a privilege to be part of this meaningful journey.

What is the Peace & Justice Action Team? What is your vision for this team? Who should join this team?

The Peace & Justice Action Team (PJAT) is a dynamic group of individuals who are energized and motivated by meaningful discussions and a shared commitment to the peace and justice movement. My vision for this team is to create a space where people listen to each other's opinions, learn from each other’s unique perspective on life, all the while working together to drive impactful change. Whether through writing op-eds, providing testimony, tabling at events, or collaborating with OPSR on key projects, PJAT members are actively involved in our mission.

I see this team as a place where people not only get work done but also feel inspired, challenged, and motivated to continue pushing for a more just and peaceful world. If you're a physician or activist passionate about peace and justice and want to contribute to real-world actions, we invite you to join us!

What about Oregon PSR made you want to stay with our organization?

The community!

  1. I adore and look up to Oregon PSR's strong and dedicated staff, who inspire me every day.
  2. I deeply appreciate the wisdom and knowledge gained from working with our members who bring invaluable insights to our work.
  3. I enjoy collaborating with other nonprofits in the Portland area and being part of a supportive, collaborative community of change-makers.

Where is your favorite place in Portland to enjoy yourself?

One of my favorite places in Portland to enjoy myself is Board Bard Games. I love playing Dungeons & Dragons there—they have an incredible atmosphere that’s both welcoming and fun. You can even order food from neighboring restaurants, and they’ll bring it right to you while you play. Plus, they have an impressive collection of board games to choose from. It’s a fantastic place to unwind and have a great time!
