Washington County is home to treasured farmland, rapidly growing communities, and some of the largest industries in the state. That’s why we’re shocked and disappointed to hear that the Washington County Board of Commissioners is on the precipice of completely eliminating the county’s Office of Sustainability, a critical resource in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting frontline communities, and coordinating our local response to climate change and extreme weather.
The latest proposed budget cut would effectively shutter the office at a time when devastating threats to our air, water, and land are emerging daily from Washington, DC. Now is NOT the time to roll back local climate protections.
Email the Washington County Commissioners today and urge them to protect the Office of Sustainability, not cut it.
