The People v.s. City Council: Exposing Zenith's Backdoor Dirty Deal

In Summer of 2022, the City of Portland officials — led by Commissioners Carmen Rubio and Dan Ryan — made a back room deal at Zenith’s oil terminal to keep oil trains moving through the city & a continued future of dangerous liquid fuel storage.

This activity created precedent that the polluting industry can entice our elected officials with backroom meetings and get hand-held through a permitting process outside of the public eye. This results in favorable permit terms for industry and an absolute slap-in-the-face for community desires and priorities. Portland can and must do better!

Now that the back room deal has been exposed, the City needs to immediately rescind Zenith’s LUCS to allow for sufficient public process and input. Call, email, and write to your city commissioners and let them know that this fight isn’t going away, and JOIN US at City Hall on Wednesday, September 6th at 9 am to voice your concerns.

We will be supporting a community member testifying to City Council by showing up to the hearing, wearing red, and holding signs. Meet us outside City Hall at 9:00 am and together we'll go into the hearing together. RSVP for more information!
