Nuclear weapons, by their very existence, pose a grave and potentially catastrophic threat to human health and to all life on Earth. Join us to learn more about the growing danger of nuclear war, and what health professionals can do about it, with Dr. Ira Helfand.
Ira Helfand, MD is an emergency medicine physician, Co-President of IPPNW (International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War), winner of 1985 Nobel Peace Prize, and Chair of National PSR (Physicians for Social Responsibility) Security Program.
Following Dr. Helfand’s talk, Oregon PSR members and friends are invited to join us for informal discussion over coffee from 9:30 until 10:30 AM.

Getting there:
Bus service: Trimet #8 bus leaves downtown 5th Avenue every 12 minutes, and stops directly in front of BICC Library.
MAX: Take MAX Yellow/Orange Line to SW Waterfront Robertson Collaborative Life Science Building, and take the tram up the hill to OHSU Hospital. The BICC Library is the next building just west of the hospital. (Note: you will need to purchase a ticket to ride tram.)
By Car: Drive up Sam Jackson Park Road, past the Emergency Department and BICC Library on your left, and take the next right driveway to the Old Library. Keep right and you will be in a metered parking lot in front of the large fountain. Park and pay in a visitors spot, then cross the sky bridge to BICC, take the elevator down to the 1st Floor, and ask at the library desk for Room 124. If there are no metered parking places available in this lot, drive back down Sam Jackson Road to the Kohler Pavilion lot, which is accessed by turning right turn onto Campus Drive (visitor parking places are marked). Take the elevator up to the 9th Floor of Kohler Pavilion and follow signs to OHSU Hospital information desk. BICC Library is the next building.
