Announcing the Winners of Our 2020 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship

Oregon PSR is thrilled to announce the high school student winners of the 2020 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship. The winning entries were selected from among 80 submissions by high school juniors and seniors from across the state of Oregon. The student winners, who will be honored for their essays, poems, or stories, responded to the following writing prompt:

“How would an effective movement for climate justice benefit immigrant communities?”

These are the student winners of the 2020 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship:

1st Place: Isabel Howard, West Linn High School, West Linn, OR

2nd Place: Kalani Korok, Tigard High School, Tigard, OR

3rd Place: Jackeline Rodriguez, Phoenix High School, Phoenix, OR

On Saturday, April 25th beginning at 5:30 PM, these students will share their winning entries at the online 2020 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship Awards Ceremony. We will also be joined by our Keynote Speaker, environmental activist, and asylee Wendi Garcia. We hope that you will join us online in hearing their thoughts on the intersections of climate justice and immigrant justice this Saturday.

Oregon PSR extends our most sincere appreciation to all of the Oregon high school juniors and seniors who submitted essays, poems, and works of fiction for our 2020 Greenfield Peace Writing Scholarship. We also thank our volunteer judges and the endorsers and co-sponsors of the awards ceremony, who make this annual scholarship opportunity possible. We hope to see you virtually on Saturday, April 25th!
