Join OPSR at the Student Voices for Climate Justice Summit
On Saturday, April 11th, Lincoln High School’s Environmental Justice Class and Wells High School’s EcoAction Club will host the Student Voices for Climate Justice Summit with workshops by local organizations and students, an expert panel, live music, a thrift pop-up, art, and free food (Banh mi). If you're interested in taking action, learning to organize, engaging with today's most pressing issues, and building community, please join us! Workshops will be taught on a variety of topics, such as lobbying, giving testimony, local air quality advocacy, the Willamette river and Portland’s fossil fuel hub, data centers, immigration rights, nuclear disarmament, and much more.
We are also excited to welcome a special guest, 17-year-old Yurok and Māori indigenous activist Keeya Wiki of Ashland, who will be joining us as the recipient of the first annual Oregon Voices for the Climate Award, to be presented at the summit. Keeya is widely known for her climate activism, including speaking at the recent U.N. climate summit in Brazil and participating in the First Descent, which brought attention to the largest dam removal and river restoration in history on the Klamath River.
Please fill out this RSVP form to sign up and receive reminders leading up to the event. Feel free to invite friends and family as the event is open to the general public. We hope to see you there!
